It's polished, fun and and scary, but the ending kill dented my approval.
Only a few movies got under my skin this year, and by that I mean they still crawl on reflection. 'Pandemonium', definitely, and then 'MadS' and 'Red Room' (though the latter is more thriller not horror).
I'm inclined to agree. I would have preferred that they didn't show it before the credits roll and instead end on the shot of the crowd screaming in horror, but I like the connotations of it in relation to how the curse spreads.
I've heard good things about those titles and I'm particularly intrigued by Red Room, though I regrettably also haven't seen Strange Darling with Smile's Kyle Gallner yet. Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts!
'The Devil's Bath' (Austria), and 'I Saw the TV Glow' (USA) are also fab. Also worth watching: 'Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person' (Canada), 'and The King Tide' (Canada).
Thanks for the recs! I certainly feel that way about Longlegs after mulling it over. The visuals are impressive, though the acting is stiff and I didn't quite like the plot - even if I 'got it.'

‘Strange Darling’, like ‘Longlegs’, is excellent in the moment but only good when trying to feel it weeks later.

Actually, I enjoyed Cage's acting, the highlight, but Hugh Grant, in 'Heretic', sure gives him competition.
Yes! Grant as a villain is fantastic
