At a tangent, I'm long waiting for nu metal/rap to half-heartedly try beat System of a Down and Korn ('Issues' era). Same for hip-hop with the caveat that Macklemore is reliable. Same for rock whilst thinking of Tea Party, and older Pearl Jam and Blue October. I'm bitchin' because the world is ending. Ha.
There's a bunch of hip hop-infused heavy bands coming up in Australia, not to mention North America's Stray from the Path and Fever 333, but I think the style as a subculture is well past its peak. I grew up on that stuff you mentioned though, so it'll always be on rotation in my household haha
